What does the schema checker test?

  • Every JSON-LD block parses correctly and declares @context.
  • The types you use, such as Organization, LocalBusiness, Product, Article, Event or BreadcrumbList.
  • Google's required properties for each type, with recommended properties listed separately.

Things to know

  • FAQ rich results are now limited to government and health websites, so FAQ markup rarely shows stars or drop-downs for businesses.
  • Reviews of your own business written on your own site don't get review stars.
  • Markup must match what's visible on the page.

LocalBusiness, or a more specific type such as Plumber or Restaurant, if you serve customers in an area; Organization otherwise. Add BreadcrumbList on inner pages.

Does schema markup improve rankings?

Not directly. It helps search engines and AI understand the page and can make it eligible for rich results, which can lift clicks.
