What is LocalBusiness schema?


It's a block of JSON-LD code, using the schema.org vocabulary, that states your business details in a form machines can read without guessing: name, address, phone, opening hours, areas served and links to your official profiles. Google uses it to understand your business, and AI assistants use it to describe you accurately.


Which business type should I choose?


The most specific one that fits – Plumber, Electrician, Dentist, Restaurant and so on – because each is still a LocalBusiness. If none fits, use LocalBusiness or ProfessionalService.


What if I don't have a public address?


Service-area businesses that visit customers can leave out the street address and use areas served instead, listing the towns you cover. Whatever you include must match your Google Business Profile and what's visible on your website.


How do I add the code to my site?


Paste it into the <head> or anywhere in the <body> of your home page (or contact page). On WordPress, an SEO plugin or a header-code plugin does the job. Then run the schema checker to validate it.
